Broken gadgets and road mishaps

Just days after my camera broke, my one-year-old laptop crashed. At first, I thought the battery needed a change. But after the pc service center at the mall tinkered with it, the battery was A-ok. It had to be the motherboard or something like that. That doesn’t make much of a difference to a non-techie me. All I know is that I’m not sure how many days I can go without taking photos or live blogging. Right now, I am typing  away at the gym’s computer, hoping that no one else will queue up behind me.(Give me a few more minutes, please). What a way to start my year, gadget-wise. I never knew how gadget-dependent I was until now. This is depressing, not to mention stressful. And it’s only the first day of the week!

This is in addition to New Year’s precinct visit Santi and I made to one of our friends who ran over a pedestrian, who died on the spot. It appeared that our friend was driving drunk after some New Year’s Eve revelry while the pedestrian chose not to take the overpass a few meters away. Both were foolhardy, in my book.

We were at the precinct all the day until the wee hours of the morning trying to bail him out. Since the accident occurred on a holiday (of all days), there were no judges and prosecutors around. Those who were available opted to make us wait for work days to start. The poor guy was detained for three days before he could take a decent shower.

And of course, my heart goes out to the victim and his family. It’s a truly sad way to welcome the year. Now, my broken gadgets look trivial and stupid next to that. That puts me in perspective, right there. Don’t drink and drive, people. Really. I have been guilty of that many times before but I don’t drive anymore. That’s one thing I’m happy to avoid.

Now, I have to get my butt to the treadmill. Huff, puff, huff, puff!
